The UNI EN ISO standards (in particular 16090-1:2019) specify the technical safety requirements and protective measures that must be installed on machine tools, and also highlights the significant hazards that can occur during transport, assembly and installation, set-up, operation, cleaning and maintenance, troubleshooting, decommissioning or dismantling of machines.
In particular, it requires accessibility to the machine from all directions and specifies the conditions of access to operator positions. It also applies to piece transfer devices, including transport devices for loading/unloading when they are an integral part of the machine.
